<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic dictionary device mounted with a main touch panel and a sub-touch panel that allows an operation for inputting a search word by handwriting and searching a dictionary to be more smoothly performed with no trouble. <P>SOLUTION: While a handwritten character is being input in a handwriting input area N1 or N2 on a handwriting input unit (sub-touch panel) 15, when an [enlargement] key Kd is input due to, for example, inability to handwrite it well in the input area N1 (or N2) because of the many strokes of the handwritten character, handwritten data during input displayed in the handwriting input area N1(N2) is moved to an enlargement handwriting input area N displayed on a main display unit (main touch panel) 16, and is enlarged and displayed.
