摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance image display quality by reducing the black luminance of an image displayed on a plasma display panel and then enhancing the contrast. <P>SOLUTION: In an initialization period, one of a forcible initialization waveform, a selective initialization waveform and a non-initialization waveform is generated and applied to a scan electrode. One field comprises a special initialization sub-field for selectively generating the forcible initialization waveform and non-initialization waveform and a plurality of selective initialization sub-fields for generating only the selective initialization waveform. The forcible initialization waveform is applied to one scan electrode once for each field group. Scan electrodes on both sides of a scan electrode applied with the forcible initialization waveform in the special initialization sub-field are applied with the non-initialization waveform in at least two special initialization sub-fields which are the special initialization sub-field and the first special initialization sub-field right after the special initialization sub-field. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
