<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent erroneous detection of one of positions of a recording part and a conveying part, and reduce impact caused by collision of the one part and a peripheral member. <P>SOLUTION: A head of a printer is held by a carriage 3 and also is lifted by drive of a head lifting mechanism including a rack 52r and a pinion 52p. A projection 3p, a spring 3s, and a first contact 3x are arranged on a lower end surface of the carriage 3. A second contact 9x is arranged on a platen 9. When the head (the carriage 3) is lowered from a wiping position, the contacts 3x and 9x are in contact with each other. The contact is detected by a signal from a conduction sensor, and thereby a position of the head is determined. When the head is further lowered after the contacts are in contact with each other, the spring 3s is compressed, and gives upward energizing force to the carriage 3. The head stops moving in a position where the projection 3p abuts on an upper surface of the platen 9. Then, the head is position-controlled based on this position. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
