<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dewatering device for a refrigerant which removes water included in the refrigerant, in a refrigerating cycle. <P>SOLUTION: This dewatering device 7 for the refrigerant includes: a hollow member 100 connected in the refrigerating cycle 1 and cooled by a cooling medium outside of the hollow member 100; a storage section 102 for storing the water; and a water retaining member 104 incorporated in the storage section 102 and having high water retaining performance in comparison with a liquid refrigerant. The storage section 102 is provided with a communication pathway 206 through which the water retaining member 104 is communicated with a gas refrigerant flow channel, below the storage section 102. The water and the liquid refrigerant are separated from the gas refrigerant when the hollow member 100 is cooled. The water is captured by the water retaining member 104, and the liquid refrigerant passes through the water retaining member 104, and returns to the gas refrigerant through the communication pathway 206.
