<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device that suppresses damage to components that form a nip portion caused by abnormal heating of a resistance heating element, and an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: A fixing device 5 presses a pressure roller 53 on a peripheral surface of a fixing belt 51 having a resistor heating element layer to form a nip portion, and feeds a recording sheet on which a toner image is transferred through the nip portion to heat-fix the image. Upon detection of an abnormally heated portion on the peripheral surface of the fixing belt 51 with a temperature sensor group 57, the fixing device 5 controls to stop the rotation of the fixing belt 51 at a position where the abnormally heated portion is not present on the nip portion. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
