<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical encoder for appropriately radiating heat generated from a photodetector. <P>SOLUTION: A reflection-type optical encoder 100 comprises: a light source 110; a scale 120; a photodetector 130; a support substrate 140; and a light source slit 150. The light source 110 emits light beams toward the scale 120, and the scale 120 travels toward the light source 110. The scale 120 has a periodic optical pattern 124, reflects and modulates applied light beams. The photodetector 130 has a photodetector array 132 and detects a formed image by the light beams reflected and modulated by the scale 120. Both the light source 110 and the photodetector 130 are mounted to the support substrate 140. The light source slit 150 has a slit pattern 154 and is mounted on a surface of the photodetector 130 where the photodetector array 132 is formed so that the slit pattern 154 overhangs in an eaves shape over the light source 110. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
