The present invention addresses the problem of providing a solar cell substrate exhibiting superior steam barrier properties. The present invention relates to a solar cell substrate formed from a liquid crystal polyester having a repeating unit represented by formula (1), a repeating unit represented by formula (2), and a repeating unit represented by formula (3); wherein the ratio of the content of the repeating units containing a 2, 6-naphthylene group to the total amount of all of the repeating units is at least 40 mol%. (1) - O - Ar1 - CO - (2) - CO - Ar2 - CO - (3) - O - Ar3 - O - (Ar1 represents a 2, 6-naphthylene group, a 1, 4-phenylene group, or a 4, 4'-biphenylene group.
