<p>783,153. Bell-type annealing furnaces. WILSON, L. Jan. 10, 1956 [Jan. 28, 1955], No. 895/56. Class 51 (2). In a forced convection bell-type annealing furnace generally similar to that disclosed in Specification 768,638 and heated by radiant tubes 2 outside an inner cover C, the centrifugal fan 15 is disposed within a charge support S comprising upper and lower base plates enclosing a plurality of diffuser vanes V arranged to ensure that the air circulated by the fan reaches the slots 39 in the upper base plate 34 in a substantially radial direction. Each vane V comprises an inner wall member 36 having a spiral pointed inner end portion 36<SP>1</SP>, and a reversely curved outer end portion 36<SP>11</SP> secured to an outer wall member 37 which extends substantially radially of the support, and has its inner end secured to the inner wall member 36 and its outer end secured to the vertical rim 33. Spacer members 38 connect the wall members 36 and 37, and narrow spacer members 39 connect the vanes. Air drawn by the fan 15 through a central opening 35 in the upper base plate 34 is distributed uniformly by the diffuser vanes through the slots 39 outside the stacked coils 21, returning down the middle thereof.</p> |
