The present invention relates to the field of communications. Disclosed are a method for establishing LSP protection and a node. The invention enables LSP protection by configuring OAM parameters and protection parameters when establishing the label switched path. The method for establishing LSP protection in the embodiments of the present invention comprises: receiving an LSP establishment message sent by an upstream node, with the LSP establishment message carrying the operation, administration and maintenance parameters and the protection parameters; and configuring the operation, administration and maintenance parameters and the protection parameters.
