The molecular structure of a metal salen complex erxhibiting a pharmacological effect has been clarified, and provided are a metal salen complex provided with such a molecular structure, as well as a derivative of the complex. A metal salen complex compound characterized in that a plurality of molecules of the metal salen complex or a derivative of the metal salen complex are multimerized at some of the respective metal atoms, with water interposed therebetween.
