The present invention relates to Sphingomonas sp. MD2 strain (KCTC 11845BP), to a composition for decomposing methane or odor-producing compounds using the strain, to a biocover or biofilter including the composition, to a method for decomposing methane or odor-producing compounds using the composition, to a system for decomposing methane or odor-producing compounds using the biocover or biofilter, and to the use of the strain for decomposing methane or odor-producing compounds. According to the present invention, since noisome odors, as well as methane, can be effectively removed at the same time, it is possible to reduce the costs required for treating methane and noisome odors, respectively, and also to effectively decompose methane and components having a noisome odor from a landfill or the like.
