<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel sort determination method capable of easily and accurately determining a steel sort of a steel material whose cross section is approximately circular. <P>SOLUTION: The steel sort determination method includes: a detection step which, while relatively moving a measurement part 2 including an irradiation part 21 for applying X-rays and a detection part 22 for detecting fluorescent X-rays to a steel pipe 4 along the outer periphery of the steel pipe 4 only for previously determined time required for analysis, applies X-rays to the steel pipe 4 from the irradiation part 21 and detects fluorescent X-rays radiated from the steel pipe 4 by the detection part 22; a calculation step for calculating the composition of the steel pipe 4 based on the fluorescent X-rays detected by the detection step; and a determination step for determining a steel sort of the steel pipe 4 by the composition calculated by the calculation step. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
