摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous carbon material having excellent characteristics when used in electrochemical devices such as batteries like lithium ion secondary batteries or electric double layer capacitors, and a method for producing the porous carbon material. <P>SOLUTION: An electrode material for a secondary battery or a material for an electric double layer capacitor comprises: a porous carbon material which is obtained by using a plant-derived material including silicon as a raw material, has a specific surface area value of 130 m<SP POS="POST">2</SP>/g or more when measured by a nitrogen BET method, has volumes of mesopores and micropores of 0.1 cm<SP POS="POST">3</SP>/g or more, and contains many mesopores with a pore size of 20 nm or less more than mesopores with a pore size of exceeding 20 nm; or a porous carbon material which is obtained by using a plant-derived material including silicon as a raw material, has a specific surface area value of 10 m<SP POS="POST">2</SP>/g or more when measured by a nitrogen BET method, has a pore volume obtained by a mercury press-fitting method of 2.2 cm<SP POS="POST">3</SP>/g or more, and has a volume of pores obtained by removing silica of 0.1 cm<SP POS="POST">3</SP>/g or more when measured by a BJH method and an MP method. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
