The member has ring-shaped torque transmitting disk pairs arranged between an outer disk carrier (1) and an inner disk carrier (2). An outer disk (3) and an inner disk (4) of the disk pairs are secured at the outer disk carrier and the inner disk carrier, respectively. An actuator device applies axial force on the disk for axial movement of the disk towards an end stop (5). An elastic axial spacing (7) is provided for axial force-dependant separation of the inner disk and the outer disk such that number of the disk pairs is varied based on axial force. The inner and outer disks are designed as friction disks or steel disks.
