发明名称 Improvements in coin-testing mechanism
摘要
783,821. Testing coins in coin-freed apparatus SKILLMAN & CO., Pty.. Ltd., T. S. Sept. 6. 1955 [Sept. 10, 1954], No. 25537/55. Class 27 Coin testing apparatus includes a pair of calipers 11 pivoted at 26 and provided with measuring points 50 normally situated above the pivots and with curved overlapping tails 51, the inside edge of the tail of each caliper being formed by the arc of a circle centred on the measuring point and having a radius slightly less than the diameter of the coin to be tested. If the coin is of correct thickness just inside the rim, it will, when resting on the tails, allow the measuring points to move through the line joining the two pivots and thus beyond the point of minimum separation so that the tails can cease to overlap and allow the coin to pass. If the thickness is too great, the measuring points will be prevented from reaching the'line joining the two pivots and the coin will be held by the calipers. One pair of calipers is carried by a bracket 30 on a fixed frame 1 and the other is carried on a hinged flap 2 by means of a pivoted bracket 28 which is adjustable to vary the pivot spacing by means of an adjusting screw 32 and locking screw 31. An inserted coin is first tested by the insertion slot for over-thickness and over-diameter and then falls between the frame 1 and flap 2 and past adjustable guides 5, 8 to the calipers. After passing the calipers, the coin rolls down a rail 12 where, if too thin, it falls through an adjustable gap between the rail and the frame or flap and, if too small in diameter, it falls out laterally through a gap 13 adjustable by a plate 14. A coin not so far rejected falls on to a weighing balance 19 and, if of acceptable weight, tilts the balance so that the coin can pass below a stop 23. A rebound test may also be provided. Clearing apparatus. The hinged flap 2 can be pivoted away from the frame 1 by means of a pushbutton and spring- loaded rod to release trapped coins and is returned to normal position by a spring fitted over a screw 18. A stop member is moved across the aperture 13 during the first part of the movement of the pushbutton so that a coin released from the calipers cannot roll down the rail 12 before the flap has moved far enough from the frame to allow the coin to fall between them .
