<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device that makes scratches on a pressure member due to a separation pawl less visible without cooling the pressure member, and provides quality images free from a streak-like abnormal image. <P>SOLUTION: A cleaning unit 70 removes and recovers residual materials such as residual toner and paper powder transferred from a fixing belt 53 side, which are attached to a surface of a pressure roller 54 after passing of a recording sheet P. The cleaning unit 70 includes a scroll-like cleaning web 71 having thickness of several tens of μm, and contacts with the pressure roller 54. A surface of the pressure roller 54 is polished by polishing means 75 to have appropriate surface roughness after the residual materials are removed from the surface. The polishing results in elimination of the difference between the scratches on the surface of the pressure roller 54 caused by the contact of a pressure separation pawl 60 and the roughness of the surface of the pressure roller 54 other than the area where the pressure separation pawl 60 came into contact with the surface. Consequently, the scratches are made less visible, and thereby the occurrence of a streak-like abnormal image is suppressed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
