<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gel actuator that has a configuration of sandwiching gel between a positive electrode and a negative electrode and in which the gel is deformed to constrict in the thickness direction by application a voltage to the positive electrode and the negative electrode. <P>SOLUTION: A gel actuator comprises; gel 11 that is composed of a dielectric polymer material and has protrusions 10a; a positive electrode 30 disposed in contact with the tops of the protrusions 10a; and a negative electrode 20 disposed at the position sandwiching the protrusions 10a in the height direction with respect to the positive electrode 30. When a voltage is applied between the positive electrode 30 and the negative electrode 20, the protrusions 10a are creep-deformed so as to attach to the positive electrode 30 side, so that the gel 11 is constricted in the thickness direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
