<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for accurately specifying an annular printing area from an image including a label surface of a disk-like recording medium. <P>SOLUTION: A printing apparatus of the present invention generates an edge extraction image A, investigates the density variation from the periphery to detect a first candidate pixel and specifies an outer circumferential circle 141 corresponding to the outer peripheral edge of a printing area based on the pixel. And, the printing apparatus sets a first region S1 using the identified outer circumferential circle 141, investigates the density variation of the edge extraction image in the region S1 from the periphery to detect a second candidate pixel M and specifies an inner small circle 221 corresponding to the inner peripheral edge of the printing area based on the pixel M. Then, the printing apparatus sets a second region using the identified inner small circle, investigates the density variation of the edge extraction image in the region toward the edge side from the side of the center line to detect a third candidate pixel and specifies an outer large circle 211 corresponding to the outer peripheral edge of a printing area based on the pixel. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
