<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device and an image forming apparatus including the fixing device which have enhanced thermal resistance performance by preventing heat from dissipating to outside the device, and which eliminate temperature difference occurring between a paper-feed area and a non-paper feed area when fixing processing is consecutively performed for recording media having a width smaller than an area where paper can be fed. <P>SOLUTION: A fixing device 5 includes an elastic sheet 61 which is elongated in a circumferential direction of a fixing roller 18 so as to be provided in a space S, which has both edges respectively fixed to circumferential edges 56c of an upper frame 56 and is capable of being extended and contracted in a roller circumferential direction Z, and which has heat resistance. Multiple first support members 63 and second support members 65 are placed alternately in the roller circumferential direction Z. The first support members 63 are movable in a roller radial direction Y.
