The device (9) has a converter arranged between a drive unit and a transmission and decoupled from the transmission. A shifting element of the transmission is designed as a starting element, where starting process is realized by direct or indirect controlling of a drive unit. A starting function unit (10) comprises multiple basic function modules (14) e.g. inactivity module (11), opening module (12), slippage setting module (13) and auxiliary function modules (15-18) i.e. closing modules, where the basic function modules are linked with the auxiliary function modules. The shifting element is designed as a clutch and/or brake. The basic function modules are designed as starting function modules.
