<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a recording and reproducing device and method which enables a user to speedily and easily find out a target chapter or scene. <P>SOLUTION: In a recording and reproducing device, and a recording and reproducing method of the recording and reproducing device which records and reproduces video information of a scene obtained by photographing to/from a predetermined first recording medium and can set one or more chapters for each scene, face recognition processing is performed on a photographed video image based on the video information, a degree of importance is set for each chapter based on processing result of the face recognition processing on an important person, and a chapter with a corresponding degree of importance is selectively reproduced based on the degree of importance for each chapter. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
