<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lamp unit capable of forming a pattern with high resolution and irradiating light with a uniform illumination intensity distribution, and a light irradiation device having the lamp unit. <P>SOLUTION: The lamp unit 10 is made of a plurality of light source element trains wherein a plurality of light source elements organized by short arc type discharge lamps and reflectors are stored in a honeycomb structure 16 by lining them up in one direction. A front glass 18 is arranged at a light emission side of the honeycomb structure 16. Regarding respective light source elements stored in the honeycomb structure 16, a separated distance H in the lining-up direction of the light source element trains between the center position of each light source element of one light source element train and the center position of each light source element of the other light source element train is set up to satisfy the relationship of H=A/N when a width of each light source element is set up to be A and the number of trains of the light source element trains is set up to be N. Thus, a valley section of illumination intensity of one light source element train can be compensated with a mountain section of illumination intensity of the other light source element train in order to uniformalize a distribution of illumination intensity. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
