The present invention relates to a novel polythiol compound having utility for optical lens material, a preparation method therefor, and a resin composition for an optical material using the novel polythiol. A resin composition for an optical material having the novel polythiol compound of the present invention has excellent heat resistance and reactivity while having high refractive index, and can thus be used for various optical products including lenses such as eyeglass lens and camera lens, prism, optical pipe, recording medium system such as optical disk and magnetic disk, colored filter, and infrared absorber filter.
