<p>Provided are a display device and a method for driving same with which it is possible to significantly reduce the amplitude of the video signal even in cases where a large-sized panel is employed. Each pixel-forming section is provided with an amplifying electrode (102) connected to the drain electrode of a thin-film transistor (T1) of which the gate electrode is connected to a gate bus line (GL) and of which the source electrode is connected to a source bus line (SL). A second capacitor (Ctr) is formed by the amplifying electrode (102) and a pixel electrode (101). A selection period is made up of a pre-charge period and an amplification period. During the pre-charge period, the pixel electrode (101) is supplied with the electric potential of the video signal, and the amplifying electrode (102) is supplied with the electric potential of a control line (CTL). During the amplification period, the pixel electrode (101) is kept in a floating state, and the amplifying electrode (102) is supplied with the electric potential of the video signal.</p> |
