MACHINE TOOL AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool that can control a revolution speed of a main shaft not to exceed a critical speed even when changing the feeding amount of the main shaft.

SOLUTION: The machine tool which processes a machine target object using the main shaft 3 which revolves, the machine tool includes: a support part 4 which supports the main shaft; a first driving unit 17 which revolves the main shaft about a first axis; a second driving unit 9 which feeds the main shaft from the support part in a direction of the first axis; a control unit 101 which changes an upper limit value of the revolution speed of the main shaft according to a feeding length of the main shaft fed from the support part; and a memory unit 102 which associates and stores the upper limit value of the revolution speed and the feeding length.
