<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a message reception method, a mail terminal device, and a mail client program with reduced risk of data corruption due to unintentional abnormal termination or forced termination during background reception. <P>SOLUTION: In a method for receiving electric mail on a mail terminal device in which a mail client program is installed, a newly-arrived message is acquired in the background depending on a received trigger signal and is stored in a file.
