<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To polish and remove foreign substances on an image carrier without adding a novel configuration. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a photosensitive drum 1; a charge roller 2; latent image forming means for forming an electrostatic latent image on the charged photosensitive drum 1; a developing device 6 having a developing roller 5 retaining a toner and visualizing the electrostatic latent image as a toner image; and a cleaning member 8 removing unnecessary toner stuck to the surface of the image carrier. When the image forming apparatus does not perform the image forming operation, the image forming apparatus can be set to a foreign substance removal mode for removing the foreign substances stuck to the image carrier. In the foreign substance removal mode, a foreign substance removing control device 20 allows the developing roller 5 of the developing means to rotate further faster and causes a developer magnetic brush to remove the foreign substances on the photosensitive drum 1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
