<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which is capable of suppressing streak images and image blurs attributed to the rotation load variation of an image carrier as well as scrape unevenness images such as vertical streak images and step unevenness images attributed to a worn photosensitive layer generated in the last half duration of the image carrier. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises a cleaning blade for removing a developer left on an image carrier from the image carrier after transferring an image, and is capable of executing a stop operation of the image carrier by, when finishing an image forming operation, after once stopping the rotation of the image carrier, rotating the image carrier in the same direction as the image forming operation followed by rotating it in the opposite direction to the image forming operation. The image forming apparatus is characterized in decreasing, in the stop operation of the image carrier after the layer thickness of a photosensitive layer of the image carrier is under a threshold, the rotation amount in the opposite direction to the image forming operation compared to the rotation amount before the layer thickness of the photosensitive layer is under the predetermined value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
