The present invention suppresses the flow of electricity to a case (5) of an electrically heated catalyst (1). The present invention is provided with: a heating body (3) that generates heat by current conduction; a case that accommodates the heating body (3); an inner pipe (4) that is provided between the heating body (3) and the case (5); a mat (6) that is disposed between the heating body (3) and the inner pipe (4), and between the inner pipe (4) and the case (5) to provide electrical insulation therebetween; and an electrode (7) that is connected to the heating body (3), and supplies electricity to the heating body (3). The inner pipe (4) projects more upstream and downstream in the exhaust flow direction than the mat (6), and the distance between the heating body (3) and an inner pipe (41) upstream of the electrode (7) is shorter than the distance between the heating body (3) and an inner pipe (42) downstream of the electrode (7). |
