The ultrasonic measuring system has a data acquisition unit (20), and a transducer (12) for transmitting an ultrasonic pulse to a connecting element (10) and for receiving the ultrasonic pulse echoes from the connecting element, where the data acquisition unit is connected with the transducer. A data processing unit (24) is structurally separated from the data acquisition unit and connected to the data acquisition unit via a wired or wireless connection (22). An independent claim is included for method for performing ultrasonic measurement.
