<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower pressure fluctuation of cylinder internal pressure of an internal combustion engine in coasting running by idling stop operation and to reduce vibration of a power plant suspension system. <P>SOLUTION: An in-line four-cylinder type multicylinder internal combustion engine 10 is provided with short circuit pipes 21 connecting paired cylinders with respective first and second cylinders 11 and 12 and third and fourth cylinders 13 and 14, whose piston vertical operations are reversed in phase to each other, opening and closing valves 30 are provided between the short circuit pipes 21 and the cylinders 11 to 14, and the short circuit pipes 21 are opened during an idling stop. Then, thereby gas is taken out and put in between the first and second cylinders 11 and 12 and between the third and fourth cylinders 13 and 14. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
