<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel for nitriding which can be easily cut before nitriding, and has high bending fatigue strength and high surface fatigue strength after nitriding even in cases where the content of Mo that is an expensive element is limited to 0.05 mass% or less, while having small expansion due to nitriding; and a nitrided component. <P>SOLUTION: The steel for nitriding has a chemical composition that contains, by mass, 0.07-0.14% of C, 0.10-0.30% of Si, 0.4-1.0% of Mn, 0.005-0.030% of S, 1.0-1.5% of Cr, 0.05% or less (including 0%) of Mo, 0.010% or more but less than 0.10% of Al and 0.10-0.25% of V, with the balance made up of Fe and impurities, while satisfying a relation: (0.61Mn+1.11Cr+0.35Mo+0.47V≤2.30). P, N, Ti and O in the impurities respectively satisfy P≤0.030%, N≤0.008%, Ti≤0.005% and O≤0.0030%. This steel may contain one or more of Cu≤0.30% and Ni≤0.25% alternative to a part of the Fe. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
