The system (1) has signaling units (4, 5) installed in housing unit (2) of a building. An operating control center (7) operates the signaling units, and is installed in an entry region (8) of the building. The operating control center is provided with a translucent or transparent capacitive touch surface (10), and the signaling units stand in controlled connection with the capacitive touch surface. The touch surface is made of glass or glass-ceramic, and a self-illuminating display is arranged in a rear side of the surface that includes an activation element for a data processing unit (21).
