786,475. Turbine rotor blade mountings. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. March 16, 1956 [March 17, 1955], No. 8324/56. Class 110 (3). In a bladed turbine rotor, the blades have stem portions 6a between the profile portions 5 and the root portions 6b and the stem portions of adjacent blades are spaced circumferentially to provide clearance spaces 9. A radially-disposed groove 10 is formed on one axiallyextending surface of each blade stem extending almost the full radial height of the stem, and a loosely-fitting pin 14 which is compressible in cross-section is disposed in the radial groove. The pin is of the same radial extent as the groove and is in contact with the adjacent surface of the adjacent blade stem portion, thereby acting to damp blade vibrations. In the embodiment shown, two radial grooves 10 are provided towards the ends of the stem surface 8 and a transverse groove 11 extends between the grooves 10 towards the outer end of the stem portion. The pins 13, 14 comprise spirally-wound springs of thin resilient material. The pin 14 shown in Fig. 1 is disposed at a slight inclination 16 to the radial direction.
