PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a theft detection device for a navigation device that is highly reliable as well as effective against a crime at a spot where a vehicle is parked. SOLUTION: The theft detection device uses verification data unique to a vehicle or a navigation device to detect whether the navigation device is thieved. Specifically, the verification data is acquired when the vehicle is stopped and before the navigation device is powered off, and stored in a storage as the verification data at the power off time. Further, the verification data at the power on time is acquired when the navigation device is powered on again after the power off. Then, the verification data at the power off time and the verification data at the power on time are compared, and, when both data do not match, the navigation device is judged to be being thieved, and a predetermined antitheft processing is performed.
