PURPOSE: An operation method of a display panel and a display device therefor are provided to accurately display the brightness of an input image by calculating the intensity of light of a light emitting block using a Gaussian function. CONSTITUTION: A display device for an operation method of a display panel comprises a display panel, a light source module, a pixel brightness determination unit(420), and a pixel correction unit(430). The display panel comprises multiple pixels. The light source module is composed of multiple light emitting blocks and supplies light to the display panel. The pixel brightness determination unit determines the brightness of the pixels using dimming levels and luminance coefficients of the light source module. The pixel correction unit generates correction data by correcting input data using the determined brightness of the pixels.
