A method and an apparatus for producing a solid preparation (116) from a suspension (108) are provided, wherein the suspension (108) comprises a solvent (110) and at least one substance in the form of at least partially solid particles (112), the method comprising: mixing a matrix material (106) and the suspension (108); removing at least a part, preferably at least 90 mass percent, of the solvent (110) from the mixture during production of the solid preparation (116) by compounding (e.g. extrusion) the mixture in compounding equipment (preferably an extruder). The apparatus preferably comprises a twin screw hot melt extruder (102). Further a composition is provided, wherein the composition is a mixture of a suspension which comprises an evaporable solvent (110) and at least one physiologically active substance in the form of at least partially solid micro- and/ or nano-particles (112); and a meltable matrix material (106) in the form of a thermoplastic powder; wherein, upon heating, the matrix material melts and the solvent is evaporated, and by subsequent compounding and cooling, a solid pharmaceutical preparation (116) is produced. |
