<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a holding device capable of easily holding an object from above even on an unlevel surface. <P>SOLUTION: This holding device includes right/left arms 10 being driven into an opened position being mutually opened by an arm drive device and a holding position displaced from the opened position to be closed mutually, wherein each arm has an insertion part 14 being insertable between the object and a mount face where the object is placed. The insertion part 14 has a plurality of insertion members 16a and 16b aligned in parallel with respect to the insertion direction.
