PURPOSE: A surface winder and a method for winding films using the same are provided to automatically feed a bobbin to a winding position, thereby automating procedures feeding the bobbin, winding, cutting, and discharging without running out of the procedures. CONSTITUTION: A surface winder(100) comprises bobbin supporting boards(110), arm rotation shafts, bobbin lift arms(130), arm rotation shaft driving units(140), bobbin sliders(150), driving cylinders(160), and film cutting units(170). The bobbin supporting boards are located in both sides of winder frames(F) and are installed to be adjusted a vertical height. The arm rotation shafts are installed in the winder frames in parallel with surface rolls. The bobbin lift arms supply bobbins placing on the winder frames to the bobbin supporting boards while lifting the bobbin. The arm rotation shaft driving units rotate the bobbin lift arms around the arm rotation shafts at a constant angle. The bobbin sliders support both ends of bobbins and move back and forth the bobbins. The driving cylinders drive the bobbin sliders. The film cutting units receive the bobbins from the bobbin supporting boards and deliver the bobbins to the bobbin sliders.
