PURPOSE: A power supply device and method for supplying dc power to a grid-connected system are provided to compensate an input voltage of a DC power generator using a compact insulating converter and supply an output voltage corresponding to a load, thereby obtaining high efficiency over the whole loads. CONSTITUTION: A converter comprises a plurality of switching elements and is insulated from a DC power generator(100) through a transformer. An AC conversion unit(210) comprises a full-bridge circuit that converts a first DC voltage into a first AC voltage according to control signals of the converter. The transformer(220) boosts the first AC voltage to a second AC voltage. A rectifier(230) changes the second AC voltage into a second DC voltage.
