PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for controlling an operation state of an internal combustion engine are provided to constantly optimize the operation of the engine according to dynamically variable operating conditions. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling an operation state of an internal combustion engine is as follows. Data for characterizing an operation state(Z1) is detected by one or more sensors, and transmitted to a control device. An optimal operation range(W) of the internal combustion engine is determined by the control device based on the data. The operation state of the internal combustion engine is adjusted at the optimal operation range. The optimal operation range is maintained according to one or more engine operating parameters in a combustion process or a set value for reaching an optimal operation range is determined. A real value of the engine operating parameter is calculated into a pre-set value.
