[Also in Group XXXIV] A wheel rim, such as for a cycle wheel, is made from strip of a cross-section comprising two hollow seamless flange-forming portions joined by an integral seamless web. An extruded light alloy strip of a cross-section comprising two annular portions 1A, Fig. 2, joined by a web 2A, is cold-drawn to a crosssection comprising two pear-shaped portions 1B, Fig. 3, joined by a web 2B, and is then cut into lengths which are circled and butt-welded. The hoops formed are rolled in a conventional hoop-rolling machine to the final cross-section with bead-retaining flanges 4, Fig. 3, and bead seats 5. In a modification the strip is cold drawn and rolled to the final cross-section before it is circled and joined.
