<p>Cationic emulsion of asphalt binder consisting of a dispersion of the asphalt binder in an aqueous phase, comprises 20-80 wt.% of asphalt binder, 0.01-20 wt.% of a surfactant composition comprising 40-100 wt.% of a fatty ester of proline obtained from the reaction of proline and a fatty alcohol, and 0-10 wt.% of co-surfactants, in which, when the emulsion comprises, an alkylglycoside as co-surfactant, the weight ratio of fatty esters of proline compared alkyl glycosides in the emulsion is >= 0.5. Cationic emulsion of asphalt binder consisting of a dispersion of the asphalt binder in an aqueous phase, comprises 20-80 wt.% of asphalt binder, 0.01-20 wt.% of a surfactant composition comprising 40-100 wt.% of a fatty ester of proline obtained from the reaction of proline and a fatty alcohol having a structure of formula (R-OH), and 0-10 wt.% of co-surfactants, in which, when the emulsion comprises, an alkylglycoside as co-surfactant, the weight ratio of fatty esters of proline compared alkyl glycosides in the emulsion is >= 0.5. An independent claim is included for a coated material for the production of layers and/or coatings of road construction, comprising the asphalt binder emulsion and aggregates.
