PURPOSE: A vertical screw type centrifugal separator is provided to easily separate sludge and impurities from pollutants based on the rotation of a screw equipped with a vertically installed center shaft. CONSTITUTION: A vertical screw type centrifugal separator includes an inner cylinder(20), a pollutant introducing member(30), a bottom blocking member(40), a sidewall penetrating hole(50), an outer cylinder(60), and a screw(70). The inner cylinder is vertically installed. The pollutant introducing member introduces pollutants into the inner cylinder. The bottom blocking member is positioned at the bottom side of the inner cylinder. The sidewall penetrating hole is positioned at the sidewall of the inner cylinder. The outer cylinder is concentrically positioned about the inner cylinder and includes a vertical part(62) and a tapered inclined part(64). The screw is positioned at the outer circumference of the inner cylinder. Sludge and impurities downwardly move along the inclined part of the outer cylinder, and clean liquid moves to an upper space between the cylinders.
