An organic EL lighting module contains an organic EL element provided with a planar light-emitting layer, a negative electrode disposed on one of the surfaces of the light-emitting layer, and a positive electrode disposed on the other surface of the light-emitting layer. A light-exiting surface for transmitting the light from the organic EL element to the outside is disposed on the side of the negative electrode or the side of the positive electrode. The organic EL lighting module contains at least one temperature detector for detecting information pertaining to the temperature of the organic EL element at a location that is adjacent to the organic EL element and on the opposite side of the side in which the light-exiting surface is positioned in relation to the organic EL element.
