PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition containing extract and fraction of an aerial part of Oryza sativa L. and flavonolignan compounds isolated from the same is provided to suppress NO generation and to reduce side effects. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating inflammatory diseases contains extract of an aerial part of Oryza sativa L. as an active ingredient. The extract is prepared using 80% methanol solution. The pharmaceutical composition contains a fraction of an aerial part of Oryza sativa L. as an active ingredient. The fraction is prepared by extracting the extract using n-hexane and H_2O, extracting a H_2O layer using ethyl acetate, and extracting H_2O by n-butanol. The pharmaceutical composition contains flavonolignan compounds or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an active ingredient.
