ELECTROPHOTGRAPHIC DEVELOPER REPLENISHMENT ALONG DIAGONAL SWATH

Two-component developer in an electrophotographic (EP) printer is replenished. A replenishment amount of toner is added to depleted developer in a return channel by a replenishment system adjacent to the source end of the return channel. The amount of toner replenished is an estimate of the amount of toner supplied to the latent image in a diagonal swath on the photoreceptor defined by the process surface speed of the photoreceptor and the channel speed of the return channel using the received image data, or using measurements of the respective potentials of the latent image or the respective densities of the visible image at a plurality of points in the diagonal swath on the photoreceptor.
