<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide improved processes for preparation of polymer latexes suitable for use in a toner without the use of solvents. <P>SOLUTION: In embodiments, alkyl sulfate or alkyl ether sulfate is used in a solvent-free toner production process as surfactants to provide higher parent particle charge without adversely affecting particle size, distribution control and circularity of the toner particles.
