A method, system, server processing system and mobile communication device are disclosed for providing mobile communication device services. In one aspect, a server processing system is disclosed for authenticating a user, and configured to: receive, from a mobile communication device of the user, a user code; randomly generate a base code; modify, using the user code, the base code to generate a server-generated authentication code; store the server-generated authentication code in a data store; transfer the base code to the mobile communication device for storage; receive an authentication request indicative of a device-generated authentication code from a reader assembly, wherein the reader assembly is configured to obtain the device-generated authentication code from the mobile communication device which generates the device-generated authentication code using the base code and the user code; and authenticate the user in event that the device-generated authentication code corresponds to the server-generated authentication code.
