<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide techniques for monitoring power consumption at low cost without complicated signal processing. <P>SOLUTION: A network relay device 10 comprises card modules 14 as main function parts and power supply units 18 as power supply parts. A configuration for a power monitor circuit is installed in each card module 14 to calculate power consumption by monitoring a current and/or voltage value of a DC power source supplied by the power supply units 18. For example, a current monitor 26 and a voltage monitor are arranged in the middle of a power supply channel 24 to acquire a current value and a voltage value, and the acquired current value and voltage value are converted into digital signals to be input to a CPU 30. Power consumption calculated by the card modules 14 is compiled in another control card 20, and the efficiency of the power supply units 18 is determined using functions prestored in a ROM 32 by a CPU 30 of the control card 20.
